Although it didn’t feel like that as the rain fell on beautiful Wyken Vineyards, our hosts for the event this year. Over 70% of the medal winners were still wines, dominated by an amazing variety of white wines.

Burn Valley Vineyard is just 4 miles from the stunning North Norfolk coast, with south facing slopes Burn Valley’s vines are perfectly positioned to grow the best quality still-wine grapes.
Burn Valley’s 2022 Chardonnay was a big hit with the judges, winner of two trophies. Winemaker Matt Abbey looked suitably happy with his trophies and 9 medals across all wine styles
The coast line of East Anglia featured in another of this year’s winners. This time it was the Essex coast, with Essex being identified by academic research as the best region in the UK for still Pinot Noir, it was perhaps not surprising that our Best Red Wine was a Pinot Noir from that region.
Thorrington Mill on the Essex coast won Best Red Wine with their 2022 Pinot Noir.
